Courchevel - perfect alpine luxury
By reputation, Courchevel 1850 is currently the most exclusive and glamourous resort on the planet. Thanks to an influx of money from primarily Russian visitors about a decade ago, the already chic French resort has transformed into the ultimate in elite Alpine destinations.
Luxury hotels abound and are only outdone (perhaps) by some of the private dwellings of the super-super-rich. In fact, the accommodation is of such high quality and so sought after that the only challenge with a corporate event in Courchevel is finding sufficient free rooms to accommodate you.
The on-mountain dining remains some of the best (& most expensive) in the Alps, but with Michelin-starred level of food served on a glorious sun-deck in the middle of the stunning Three Valley mountainscape, there’s no doubt you are getting your money’s worth. These same restaurants make great venues in the evening too – fancy snowmobiling races followed by gourmet dinner and a torchlit toboggan descent? In Courchevel it all awaits you.
The Three Valleys claims to be the largest connected ski area in the world. There is certainly more than enough skiing to keep even the most accomplished skiers occupied over a long weekend or corporate break. The lift system is exceptionally well-maintained and makes for a seamless and wait-free progression around the ski area. All in all, Courchevel can rightly claim to be at the hub of some of the best piste-skiing on the planet.
The transfer can be as little as 1.5 hours from Chambery airport, but people more commonly fly into Lyon or Geneva – from these it takes about 2hrs 15 and 3hrs respectively to reach Courchevel 1850.
